Pinpoint Dress Shirts
The pinpoint dress is similar to the Oxford dress shirt but it has some characteristics that the latter does not have. All the components of the Oxford shirt can be found in the pinpoint fabric. The weaving process is identical and it can be used both as an office attire or a casual wear since it is so comfortable. Despite the fact that the pinpoint fabric is similar to the Oxford fabric there are differences in the weight and thread used in pinpoint fabric.
The softness of a fabric can be determined in two ways. The higher the thread count in a fabric the softer it is to touch. It is for this reason that clothing that is made from Egyptian cotton is highly regarded. The weight is the other indicator of softness An example of this can be seen by comparing the a 80's weight dress shirt and a 40's weight Oxford shirt;the pinpoint dress shirts with the first weight category is a lot lighter. Finer thread is used to make pinpoint dress shirts and this is another reason why it is lighter than Oxford shirts. However, not all Oxford shirts fall under the category of being soft, because some do have a coarser feel that gives the impression that it is thicker and casual.
The durability of a dress shirt can be maximised if pinpoint dress shirts are combined with synthetic blend. However, the fact that pinpoint blends tend to wrinkle easily is reason enough for most men to choose the Oxford shirt. In the long run it will require more care than its thicker counterpart, but when it comes to low maintenance it is the best dress shirt.
