What To Wear With Your Dress Shirt: Sweaters
Men who do not particular like suits jackets can use a sweater over their dress shirts when the temperatures changes from hot to cold. When we say sweater, a gift from a relative that has strange patterns on it does not fall into this category. Wool and cotton are the two primary types of materials that are used to make sweaters but cashmere sweaters are also an alternative as well.
Cardigans and half-zips are two types of sweaters. However, the two most recommendable and stylish ones are crewnecks and v-necks. Apart from this, the crewneck and v-neck allows you a lot more flexibility with your dress shirt collar. It can either be tucked in or left out of the sweater collar. Another option to this would be to leave the dress shirt collar fully buttoned or just leave the first two unbuttoned. Men who prefer to button up should always ensure that they have a necktie to give off a sophisticated look. The styles can be applied to both crewneck and v-neck; however, the v-neck allows a lot more flexibility if there is some interest to let the dress shirt appear to look stunning with a new tie.
It is possible to find sweaters in different colours and patterns. For a more down-to-earth look the best options are usually charcoal, solid grey or a black sweater. There are neutral colours and blend in quite well with any patterned dress shirt. Pairing a grey sweater with a light blue or lavender shirt will give off a very sophisticated and sexy look and nice black sweater with a white shirt will get any man noticed! Sweaters that are bright and warm should be avoided, but this really depends on the norms at the office. The argyle pattern is an alternative to this. For dull days argyle sweaters can work in that extra magic to make things seem so much better. They blend in well with solid and light striped dress shirts, but patterned dress shirts with excessive touches of creativity should be avoided at all costs. However, if your working environment does not have strict attire rules then by all means get adventurous by wearing your favourite striped or polka-dotted sweaters. A solid coloured dress shirt should be worn under the sweater and if possible a colour that already matches one of the colours on the sweater itself. Make sure that your sweater and dress shirt are a snug fit. When you go shopping always try on the sweater you intend to buy with a dress shirt to make sure that no muffin sides appear.
