Having Your Say With Embroidered Dress Shirts

In the past, monograms with one or two initials were the preferred choice; however, modern dress shirts are now including three initials and sometimes more because this is highly favoured by dress shirt enthusiasts. Monogram initials are generally associated with customisation as it produces a unique item. Duvet covers, bed sheets and towels are just a few things that people choose to have made to their own specifications.

However, not everything goes, and there are some rules that have to be taken into consideration when placing a design on your dress shirt with monogram initials. The first rule that has to be taken into consideration is cleanliness in execution. The wearer is free to use his specific style and thread, but as a second rule these should be subtle. It is best to use a thread that blends with the fabric that is used to make the shirt base. When it comes to lettering, these should be clear and close attention should be given to this specific details if the embroidered dress shirt is for someone else!

Traditionally initials are seen on the cuffs; however, this is changing as we are now seeing. An alternative to this are French cuffs shirts with the initial placed on the shirt pocket centre. However, if the shirt does not have pockets then the standards that are used to implement the European placement are adhered to. This is done by placing the embroidered initials on the left panel – the traditional area that pockets are placed. Another option is to place the initials on the bottom of the shirt-tail as is commonly seen in laundry identification. Embroidered initials offer the final touch to any custom made shirt.
